Silvi Carlsson

Cultural critic, author, Youtuber

Silvi Carlsson grew up in a suburb of Aschaffenburg and studied media management with a focus on journalism in Würzburg because she didn't dare do anything "unreasonable" and that was somehow the good compromise for everyone. When her studies then left her creatively underwhelmed, she secretly founded a YouTube channel in 2012 and sat in the editing rooms at the university to teach herself everything. Ever since she could think, she wanted to be on stage. Even then, she was writing commentaries and was enthusiastic about pop-cultural social issues. At 23, she moves to Cologne and starts her career as a video editor for the time being. When she had to decide between moderation jobs, YouTube and being an editor, she ventured into self-employment. Private strokes of fate such as her lipedema disorder make her scrutinize beauty standards, and through a toxic relationship with an anxiety disorder and depression in tow, she questions not only her own worldview and reality, but what social structures affect us all and how a lack of self-esteem is not just an individual issue, but that of an entire generation. She also finds expression in music, but only as a hobby. "Life is a journey" and her ADHD diagnosis probably explains her uneven path in life and the courage to keep trying new things. Currently she is writing a book. Her goal: to understand and make sense of the world and herself, with all its structures and patterns, and then find her own place in it. With a view over the edge of the plate & always with a warm heart.
