Beate Dietrich

Project Manager / MEWEM

Beate is project manager of the mentoring program for female, trans and non-binary young professionals in the music industry "MEWEM Germany". MEWEM's goal is to help ensure that more women, trans and non-binary people help shape the music industry in the long term - including in leadership positions and as founders - and to make them visible.

Since 2019, she has been on board at the Verband unabhängiger Musikunternehmer*innen e.V. (VUT) as a member services officer and joined VUT Vielfalt, the network for strengthening diversity and equality in the music industry, in 2021. Here she took over the coordination of the German mentoring program within the framework of MEWEM Europe ("Mentoring Programme for Women Entrepreneurs in Music Industry") and was able to draw on expertise from three previous mentoring programs in Berlin.

Beate knows the music industry thanks to many years of experience at a label, a booking agency and an edition. It quickly became clear to her that there are far too few women, trans and non-binary people here - both on the stages and in companies, but especially in leadership positions.

Beate is currently a mentor in the mentoring program "mARTS" at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig, a member of the advisory board of the Artists' Social Security Fund and was or is involved in various music and cultural projects - as a project manager, in marketing or as a funding consultant.
