Coming out as a theme in pop culture | EN (Breakout Session)
The dictionaries define “coming out” as “becoming known”. While it sounds about right, it is mostly used by LGBTQ+ communities to imply a revelation about one’s sexual orientation / gender identity. Why do you think is it such a strong theme in arts, cinema and music? How can we read into the action of coming out in regards to the western society? What are the dynamics that make coming out such a big issue? What is the effect of pop culture in this? Join me on Friday, Oct 23rd at 16:30 and let us discuss these questions all together by sharing our own coming out stories, with various examples from pop culture, from songs to movies or tv shows.
Presented by ART@TECH and hosted by popNRW, VUT West and c/o pop Convention as part of New Talent.
The Breakout Sessions will not be streamed and are only accessible by registration (the number of seats is limited). To register, you will need the free c/o pop xoxo Convention Online Ticket.
