VUT Indie Days Köln: How to Patreon - Membership success and reliable monetization opportunities for the creative industry | EN (Expert Session)

Patreon is a membership platform for creative people. We are committed to a new "creative economy" that moves away from the advertising-financed "attention economy". Fair, regular and uncomplicated payment of creatives is the focus of our work. Patreon helps creatives to build up a direct business basis to fans and supporters and to entertain them successfully in the long run. Patreon currently has over 200,000 creative people from 180 countries, with a total of over six million supporters worldwide. In the history of Patreon, over two billion US dollars have been distributed to creative people, of which 1 billion US dollars in the last 14 months alone. Since January 2020 there is a Patreon Europe office and team in Berlin. In this workshop, Sarah Kockler (Creator Partnerships Manager) and Ronny Krieger (General Manager Europe) will introduce Patreon, talk about different success models of creatives from different fields and answer all questions about Patreon. In the music field, for example, there are such diverse artists as Judith Holofernes, M.I.A., Ben Folds, Kate Nash, Little Boots, Gary Numan, Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), IAMX, Black Sun Empire, Einstürzende Neubauten, KT Tunstall, Kid Koala, Amanda Palmer, Zola Jesus and many more who use the platform in very different ways.

Following the Expert Session there will be a live Q&A via Zoom. Slot: 24.10.2020, 1:20 to 1:50 pm. Info about the access data will be published in the chat of the stream.

Hosted by popNRW, VUT West and c/o pop Convention as part of New Talent.
