c/o pop Festival has been bringing national and international acts from the genres of electro, indie and similar styles to Cologne's indoor and outdoor stages since 2004 – including established artists and newcomers. Since then, the focus has shifted moreand more towards national newcomers – after all, c/o pop sees itself as a festival of discovery.
Among the highlights are special events like the pop-NRW-Award, where the best acts from North Rhine-Westphalia are honored, label nights, showcases and networking events, where labels, musicians and other players can get to know each other.
The past few years have shown that the concept works: several national acts such as The Whitest Boy Alive, BrandtBrauerFrick, Moderat, Roosevelt, Dillon and AnnenMayKantereit played the festival long before their breakthroughs, proving that the c/o popFestival is an ideal stepping stone – also for international success. In 2019, the organizers revised the entire concept of c/o pop and even made a dual move: For the first time, the festival took place at the beginning of the season, in May, and has moved from the Belgian district to colorful Ehrenfeld.
The concept has also been further developed in termsof content. Starting this year, all shows that costs entry fee will take place throughout Cologne from Wednesday to Friday, while 60 more concerts and showcases will be held on the weekend at c/o Ehrenfeld in the district of the same name.
In addition to indoor and outdoor concerts, c/o Ehrenfeld offers an extensive supporting programmewith cultural, athletic and political activities on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival. All program events and concerts are free of charge.
