Sustainability and social responsibility – from knowledge to action

The music industry has seen a lot of movement when it comes to social and environmental sustainability, gender equality, mental health and working conditions. But how can we measure whether we are making significant progress here and where we need to improve? Both the Economy for the Common Good (ECG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provide information about a company's social responsibility in terms of sustainable business. Even if both approaches differ in their concrete approaches and their radicalism, both aim to harmonise corporate action with social values and ecological responsibility.

c/o pop was the first festival in Germany to present a common good balance sheet at the beginning of the year, while FC St. Pauli was the first professional football club in the world to do so at the end of 2023. Universal Music Germany has recognised that transformation is happening everywhere and provides insights into how its CSR strategy is integrated into existing business processes. Why it is crucial to start the process of continuous improvement and what the music and culture industry can learn from it will be explained and discussed in this session with the participation of the Green Culture Contact Point.
