Who, what, where, when? Timetable online!

Getting a timetable for the c/o pop Convention at the beginning of March: That has never happened before! However, there also has never been a c/o pop Convention that will take place at the beginning of May at the IHK Cologne... As of now, you can consult our timetable for information about what will take place where and when and start putting together your personal schedule. In this newsletter, we will present further highlights and confirmed speakers from all program tracks. If you haven’t secured your ticket yet, you can do so over here.


BRANDS & MUSIC: Crash Boom Brand with Kelvyn Colt

How exactly does matchmaking between an artist and a brand work? Who selects whom on the basis of which criteria? What influence does an artist have on brand activities - if he wants to have it at all? And what benefits are agreed on? 23-year-old songwriter, rapper and internet star Kelvyn Colt ("Hucci"), who will also perform at the c/o pop Festival, and Oliver Traser (Brand Manager for Pernod Ricard) will talk at BRANDS & MUSIC on Thursday, May 2, 2019, about the requirements and rules for a cooperation between brands and musicians - the title: "Crash Boom Brand - How Art and Commerce Work Together".

DIGITAL MUSIC: Next school of innovation drivers

The music industry, not just the German, is still lacking in innovation. On Thursday, May 2nd, as part of DIGITAL MUSIC we will take a look at what could be the reason for this and at the same time will present exciting new ideas and examples from the fields of audio and video, label work, data management and artificial intelligence.

In their presentation, Dr. Babak Zeini (CEO futurest) and Florian Franik (Expert for Innovation Strategy, futurest) will show why music companies have to strive for innovations, even if the revenues from streaming are increasing. They will discuss trends and technological changes in an ever-changing digital context and show how these can impact the music and creative industries.

Diarmuid Moloney (CEO Rotor Videos) examines visual aspects: "Creating visual assets to promote your music and engage your audience.”

Christoph Muck (co-founder of ForTunes) is dedicated to the potential inherent in artist related data: "How artist-centric music data analytics elevates the careers of a new generation of creators.” Colin Lovrinovic (KI Bundesverband e.V., Managing Director Gould Finch GmbH) examines the effects of artificial intelligence: "The current and future impact of AI on the entertainment industry.” There will also be input coming from Blckchn Rec.


EXCHANGE & CONNECT: There is a new trend!

Podcasts are in such great demand that there are now festivals dedicated to them - or a panel as part of EXCHANGE & CONNECT on Thursday, May 2nd. Together with our panelists, we want to figure out why 22 percent of Germans (according to a Bitkom study) are listening to podcasts - which, as is well known, have long been more than "radio that you can download". Participants: Vera Lisakowski (Director of Grimme Online Award, freelance journalist), Laura Aha (music journalist, Groove, Spex, taz, Musikexpress), Jördis Hagemeier (founder and editor-in-chief of GOSH, freelance editor, Musikexpress), Matze Hielscher (founder "Mit Vergnügen", Podcast Hotel Matze) and Schiwa Schlei (Content Director for COSMO). Moderated by: Hanna Bächer (Red Bull Music Academy Daily)


NEW TALENT: Stories! Instagram for musicians & labels

Everyone is talking about Instagram: a huge potential reach, strong commitment, direct interaction with the fans. But as big as the potential is, the problems are too: How can you stand out from the competition? What do you post? How can you win new followers? And how can all this be done with few resources and as little money as possible? In his workshop, Fabian Schuetze (Low Budget High Spirit, Golden Ticket) will provide all the basics, best cases for content as well as helpful tools, tips and expert knowledge tailored to artists and bands. It will take place on Friday, May 3 as part of NEW TALENT.

NEW TALENT is organized by popNRW - Nachwuchsförderung für junge Musiker in NRW und VUT West as part of the c/o pop Convention 2019.

Reminder: You can apply for the Spotify Masterclass on Friday, May 3, 2019, until March 15th. The objective of this session is to provide you with all the information and tools you need to build your presence at Spotify. The Masterclass is exclusively for artists, managers and label representatives. All ticket holders (day ticket, 2-day ticket, combination ticket, NEW TALENT) can apply here. You will be informed by the end of March whether you will be admitted.
