Other artists process the last end of relationships, childhood dramas and personal crises in their songs. PaulWetz can also write soulful songs, such as "Stop Wasting Time" or "Hypnotize Me". But he can do much more than that. On Instagram and Tiktok, sitting motionless in his makeshift home studio, he sings out instruction manuals for microwaves or bicycles. Or he crafts real earworms from the ingredients of cornflakes, which meet with great enthusiasm in the online community. What at first sounds like mere online entertainment reveals the musician's boundless creativity and musical talent.
He discovered his creative passion at an early age: at the age of eight, the producer and singer-songwriter from the Black Forest wrote his first song, and quickly formed his first rock band, in which he screamed into a microphone and played his fingers to the bone on the guitar. When he discovered the possibilities of electronic music during his school years, he became obsessed with it overnight. His remixes and instrumentals on Soundcloud brought him to the attention of other artists. After a few years, many experiments and numerous releases, he combines his songwriting with electronic music and describes his sound as "alternative, melancholic pop music with influences from techno". He is supported on stage by Andre Haaf (keyboards) and Johannes Lange-Kabitz (drums), both of whom have already toured with well-known artists after studying at the Pop Academy. Together they combine electronic sound with live instruments and Wetz' vocals. A live band with an electronic kick.
The concert by PaulWetz is part of the "c/o pop 2022 musichubgermany " project and is funded by the Initiative Musik gemeinnützige Projektgesellschaft GmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
