Somewhere between indie, electro-pop and future soul, between growing up and wanting to remain a child - that's where Axana alias Girlwoman moves. "We learned as children that we will grow up one day and that things will be different then. But in reality it's not like that! You always remain the child you were. And the more you try to suppress the child in you, the more unhappy you will become in the long run. In any case, I have no desire to be pigeonholed into one of these two rigid states, but would like to change continuously and remain the same - sometimes more as a child and sometimes more as an adult," is how the Bielefeld artist describes her project. She is not only a master of several instruments, but because of her artistic talent, she is also responsible for the complete artwork of her releases. Supported by her husband and producer Rasmus Exner, she released the single "Rote Riesen Schlafen Nicht" (Red Giants Don't Sleep) in 2020, where she sings of sleepless nights, hallucinations, white pills and red "giants" to slightly gloomy, danceable electro-pop sounds with both childlike charm and adult expression.

Her debut album "The Big Picture" mixed Grammy winner Veronica Ferraro and is "a declaration of love for the beauty of things against the backdrop" of her "life", as Axana herself says.

The concert by GirlWoman will take place as part of the project "c/o pop Nachwuchs NRW 2022", funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of NRW.
