April 24,
19:30–20:30

Concert @
BüzE – Bürgerzentrum Ehrenfeld

To write a song called "MURDERER" but ending with the words "L.O.V.E. for everybody", it takes a band that has understood three things: First, political activism and system criticism are necessary to protect human lives. Second, the world is also an interconnected community in its feelings of anger, confusion and compassion. And third, dark pop can be a tool to channel just that. With "DARK", BLACKOUT PROBLEMS' third album was released on 15.01.2021, on which it becomes clear directly from the aforementioned opener "MURDERER" that rage must transform. The rage, that is the displeasure about the state of a society that seems incapable - despite all the warnings that history and science show us - of shaping a peaceful and sustainable place.

The text is set in the light of the disturbing headlines of recent years and unmistakably reflects the pain in the face of the resurgent right-wing forces in this country and the worldwide triumph of populism. This anger and pain run through themes on DARK such as climate change, personal fallout but also the courage to carry on.

The concert of Blackout Problems is part of the funding project "c/o pop 2022 musichubgermany " and is supported by the Initiative Musik gemeinnützige Projektgesellschaft GmbH with project funds of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
