Launching a career out of a pandemic is no easy feat anyway. But to get it rolling as a celebrated live act is a true masterstroke. That's exactly what Manuel Bittorf alias Betterov has achieved. Long before his debut album "Olympia" was finally released in mid-October, his individual club and festival gigs were already very well attended. His "Betterov & Friends" evening in Hamburg's Michel was the highlight of the Reeperbahn Festival for many.

His album was catapulted directly to number five in the album charts. "Olympia" easily fulfilled the high expectations: In addition to the already well-known hits like "Dussmann" and "Bring Mich Nach Hause", new pieces like "Böller aus Polen" and the title track prove that his songwriting, sound, voice and storytelling remain unique. And that's despite the fact that you can clearly hear the influences: British post-punk, New Wave, the great Bruce Springsteen. But all of this has been translated into German as a matter of course.

Betterov's concert will take place as part of the c/o pop festival in Cologne on April 28.

The concert is part of the funding project "c/o pop 2023 musichubgermany" and is supported by the Initiative Musik gemeinnützige Projektgesellschaft GmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
