WHAT IS ORIENTAL?
Once, it simply meant East — a direction from Europe. Over time, history added weight: colonialism, exoticism, and harmful stereotypes. Today, we reclaim. We celebrate our complex, rich, diasporic beauties and continue a revolution — we have a Kiki.
The Whoriental Ball is for everyone. Traditionally, Whoriental takes place in Berlin and focuses especially on Asian cultures. This time, Whoriental x Black Ballroom Lounge x Aaro Laveaux come together to host the first Whoriental Ball in Cologne, highlighting the Black diaspora and its deep and rich culture. Black culture has shaped mainstream culture worldwide while rarely receiving proper recognition. This night, we come together to celebrate it and to center Black bodies.
Traditional clothing is encouraged. Cultural respect is essential, so please stay within your own cultural references. Bring your pride, your protest, and your precious puss to the floor.

The Whoriental Ball is presented by WHORIENTAL Festival.
WHORIENTAL Festival is a Berlin-based music, performance and club festival initiated by QueerBerg Collective Berlin, a QTBIPOC collective for queer, trans, refugee and immigrant artists and performers founded in 2018. While QueerBerg’s community work began in 2018, WHORIENTAL has existed as a festival since 2023, created as a deliberate provocation and a reclaimed space for those shaping culture from the margins.
